The Founders Series
Each quarter we will feature Harvard alumni who have taken the plunge and started their own venture here in the Bay area.
This March, join us in welcoming Franklin Leonard (AB '00) and Noah Oppenheim (AB '00) as they discuss the challenges and opportunities to identifying good content. Franklin is a movie executive at Overbrook Entertainment in Los Angeles. He is also the founder of the Black List, a survey of movie executives identifying the hottest movie scripts of the year. Noah is a writer and Emmy-winning producer. His script for "Jackie" was ranked #2 on The Black List 2010. It will be directed by Darren Aranofsky for Fox Searchlight.
A Preview of What to Expect
To paraphrase Justice Potter Stewart, while we may not be able to define what constitutes great content, we know it when we see it. In this era of mass content production, however, it's becoming increasingly harder to rely on individual opinion to sift through tons of bad content to identify what's truly good and worthy for production.
Franklin and Noah will discuss the Black List and the implications that crowdsourced opinion and technology have for identifying great content in the movie industry and beyond. A must-attend event for anyone interested in entertainment.
