Professor Elisa New will join the Harvard Club of San Francisco – in person – to discuss her new online course on HarvardX, “Poetry in America.”  An esteemed expert in her field, Prof. New uses the HarvardX platform to delve into the history of poetry in this country, and to show parallels between its history and that of our alma mater.  From Houghton Library to Harvard's Museum of Natural History to Harvard Yard, in her course Prof. New shows these locations’ connections with some of America’s most celebrated poets – and makes poetry real and accessible even to the non-poetry reader.  Prof. New will take us behind the scenes in the making of her online course and share her excitement about HarvardX as a way to connect with students and alumni around the globe.
